ALMOST: BUT NOT QUITE

As we persevere, there comes a time when goals are almost within reach. This encourages us to strive with more diligence and to pray more fervently that we not end up short of the goal. The old saying, "so close yet so far away,

applies to Jeanie and me at this time. It's been a long rough road.
From the very beginning we have never used the money given by concerned Christians for our living expenses. In fact, we never used any of the money donated to the Mission for any mission expenses. We have paid all travel expenses from our own pocket. Even the cost of publishing and mailing our newsletter and printing our brochure has been met by our own personal funds.
During this entire time all money received has been placed in a special bank account and reserved for paying for the expensive move to the field. As a result of this, we now have approximately $1,300 of the necessary $2,000 for this journey. Yet, for all of this effort and strict economy, we must say, "Almost, but not quite."
If Jeanie and I are to attend the Summer World Institute of Missions, we must have $550 in regular monthly support before the end of April. Since that date is only a few weeks away, and we have only $375 in monthly support right now, it looks as though we will be forced to miss this excellent opportunity for in-service training. This will mean leaving a few weeks later and readjusting goals for some other learning experience such as the Seminar in Missions at Abilene Christian College. But even these secondary goals will have to be dropped if the needed amount of support is not attained. We must have the additional support, or we will wind things up being so close, and yet so far. D.R.M.

YOU CAN HELP!

You can help us by daily remembering us in your petitions to the Living God. If we have not spoken in your church, help us to get a speaking date. If you attend one of the churches that have allowed us to come, try the neighboring churches. Suggest our name at the men's fellowship or at missionary guild meetings. We already have several Sunday school classes supporting us. Finally, you can help through designated giving to your local church or directly to the Colombian Christian Mission, Inc. With concerned Christian individuals backing us, and God leading the way, we cannot fail to meet the goal of preaching the Good News to those who have it not.

OF PEOPLE AND PLACES

Since my wife and I began our deputation slightly less than a year ago, we have traveled a lot of miles, met many wonderful people, and spoken at a number of loyal churches. First, of course, came the home churches at Washington Court House, Ohio and Rittman, Ohio. Then came Porter, Kentucky, then Union Christian Church at Hodgenville, Kentucky, then the young church at Trenton, Ohio, then Peebles, Ohio, and finally Moscow, Indiana. Finally, by the time you read this, we should have concluded a weekend with the morning spent at Ladoga, Indiana, and the evening at the Bridgetown Church of Christ, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
On these weekend trips we have eaten with some of the best cooks in the tri-state area, visited such historical sites as the longest covered bridge in Indiana and Lincoln's home in Kentucky, and have been privileged to become acquainted with many fine Christian people. It has been tiring and at times discouraging, but yet these months have been rewarding and rich. We wouldn't exchange them for anything.
Oh yes, one other item we are thankful for; all of these churches that we have visited have begun supporting us, with the exception of two, and it is our understanding at the time of publication, that these two churches as well plan to begin supporting us in the near future. Praise God! D.R.M.
