AIRPLANE FUND
As our needs for more effective transportation became known, many people responded with pledges and donations. We currently have $1,275 in pledges and donations that have been designated for use in buying the airplane. Besides this, we have almost $1,000 in our general fund that may be available for that purpose. The progess has been good but we still have a long ways to go. Your continued help will be necessary if the plane is to be available soon after our arrival back in Colombia. Below is a chart that will be carried every month to update you on our progress. Please remember to designate your gift and sent it to the forwarding agent of your missionary.
1978 WORKCREW
As readers of our newsletter, I'm sure that you are familiar with the workcrew that helped us in Colombia last year. It's success was seen in the benefit that they were to us in Colombia. They accomplished a fantastic amount of work that is still benefitting the missionaries in Colombia. It also served to give those who participated a greater understanding of and empathy with the work of a missionary. Finally it was a real benefit to every church that had members who participated. These men returned with enthusiasm that added a new dimension to the church's own program. Yes, it was such a success that we are planning to repeat it next year.
Work crew, 1978, will again be sponsored by the Colombian Christian Mission, Inc. It will probably take place in the last two weeks of January, 1978, Lord willing. However these dates are tentative and could be changed to suit the schedules of the participants. The number will be limited to 14 and these will be picked on a basis of the needs of the work. The cost will depend on airfare at the time of the trip but will be very inexpensive for the two week adventure.
This work crew will probably help to build a church camp. There is a great need for this and yet it would be many years before the local churches could do it. A work crew could complete all buildings in the time they will be there. Besides just a building, participant will see first hand all phases of the mission work in Colombia. Also there will be time for some sightseeing.
Even if you have never traveled outside of the U.S., the low cost and usefulness of this trip make it worth considering.
