MISSION VIDEOS

We have been sending out the missions emphasis videos for two months now. To put it mildly, we have been surprised at the response. Ever since we offered them, the tapes have been out every available week. The churches that have taken advantage of this effective new tool have found the tapes to be worthwhile. Here are a few of the comments that we have received with the tapes when they were returned:


From the First Church of Christ, Rittman, Ohio.
Deb St. Louis: "God is Building a City graphically depicts the present and growing problem of the urban communities and how we as Christians must face the challenge of reaching these areas."

From the Parkview Church of Christ, Wooster, Ohio.
Norman Stanley: "You're right! These are excellent videos. It was evident that our congregation was touched and we are looking forward to the other three."

From the Bethlehem Church of Christ, Winchester, Ohio.
Tom Claiborne: "Thank you so much for the valuable resource you have made available to the Lord's church through these videos . . . The title was well chose (The Challenge Before Us) since the film is quite challenging and vividly reminds the church that the task is before us: no one else will do it for us. It presents some shocking statistics that will stir and motivate any disciple of Christ truly interested in reconciling men to God. Because people need the Lord, all Christians need to see this film . . Thanks for making that possible!"

As you can see, these videos have made quite an impression everywhere that they have been viewed. Some of them are already booked up throughout the month of June. So if you have any interest in seeing them, please write as soon as possible so that we can work out a date.

There is no charge for the videos but we do request that you return them first thing on Monday morning. That will permit us to share them with even more churches.
When you write, please give us the date on which you would like to see a particular video. It would be wise to include a secondary date, just in case the first date is occupied. If you can use then whenever they are open, let us know. That was we can send them on the first available date. While we prefer to send them out one at a time, we can make arrangements for you to have them all in one week, if you need them for a Faith Promise or missionary rally.

GOD'S HAND PROVIDES

Praise God! What good news I have to share with all of you this month. Remember how I had talked about the obstacles to my study at Wheaton? God had provided an entrance and the housing. Two churches had sent special offerings. In that way I had paid the first monthly payment.
But as the second month rolled around, I was again faced with a problem. I owed $3,600 yet in three more monthly installments. As the date of the second payment drew near, I again became anxious. It seems that my faith was still weak, even after all God had done. Perhaps I had forgotten the devotional thought led by one of my professors when he stated that "If God's finger points the way, God's hand will provide the means."
Just when time was about to run out, God again revealed the scope of my doubting. A Jewish couple living on the West Coast had been converted to Christ. They wanted to do something for furthering evangelization in the world. As a result, they sent a gift to Wheaton College. They asked that they money be used to pay for the schooling of someone who was involved in preaching the Gospel, anywhere in the world. The money arrived after the normal scholarships and grant had already been given out. When the school reviewed our financial information, I was the student with the greatest need, of all those involved in preaching the Good News.
The amount that they sent in covered, almost exactly, the outstanding bill that I had with the school! God had provided for my schooling in the most unexpected way. A couple that I had never met, moved by God's Holy Spirit, sent in the exact amount, at precisely the moment of my need! That couple, along with the two churches that sent in special offerings the month before, have provided completely for this semester of schooling.
Yes, it is true, If God's finger points the way, God's hand will provide the means! Come let us share in this joy and praise Him together.
