200 M.P.H.

A couple of years ago Bill Cosby performed the now famous monologue entitled 200 m.p.h. It has since become a classic and was featured on one of his most popular albums. For Bill Cosby, driving at 200 m.p.h. was a goal that he feared more than he coveted.

For a month now, Jeanie and I have been moving at 200 m.p.h. Not in our van of course, (it won't even go that fast) or even in a plane. We have attained that awesome speed by doing too many things in the short span of time. We've been through four weeks of V.B.S. now. But that is just a beginner. I bought a new set of tires just at the beginning of June. By the end of out month we already had 4,000 miles on them. Our speaking engagements have varied as much geographically as Binghamton, New York and Cincinnati, Ohio.

Yes, traveling 200 m.p.h. is fearsome as well as tiring. But we have enjoyed it. We have met many wonderful people, made friends that should last a lifetime, and obtained part of the additional support that we will need for language school. God has blessed us in a truly wonderful way, but we are looking forward to slowing down a little in the near future. D.R.M.

D-DAY: JULY 23, 1973

Departure date for Dale and Jeanie is now set for the 23rd of July, 1973. They will be driving their van in order to avoid the high costs of shipping and plane fare.

Dale and Jeanie will leave on the morning of July 23rd from Rittman, Ohio. They will drive to Indianapolis, Indiana. From there they will go to the Indiana Children's Home at Ladoga, Indiana to spend the night with Paul Carson and his family. For the next three days they will traverse the U.S. They will camp to help keep down the cost of the trip.

By the end of July they hope to be in Mexico City. In the week that follows they will be visiting the embassies of the various countries that they will pass through on the way to Costa Rica. The Pan-American Highway system is completed clear through Central America and this is the projected route.

Sometime near the end of the first week in August the recruits should depart on the last leg of the journey. For the next two weeks they shall travel through the various countries of Central America. Arrival is projected for the 23rd of August. The new language students will begin immediately to take entrance exams and prepare for the beginning of language school on the 29th of August. You may contact then through the language school at the following address:

PACKING

Pack, pack, pack! It seems as though that's all I've gotten done in the last three months. I packed when we moved from Cincinnati to Rittman picking out the things that we would need and use (very important) then unpacked when we got to Rittman. Then we packed away the things we were going to leave in Dale's parent's attic. Now we are packing for the trip. Dale is always changing his mind about things to take and so I go on packing and unpacking.

A few of the things we are taking interesting to tell about. I had to choose between my glass, plastic, and metal mixing bowls and the metal ones won because they don't break or melt too easily. I will be cooking our meals in a Boy Scout Patrol Size cook kit (most pans don't hold up over open fires). Our house will be lit by an Aladdin kerosene lamp. (no electricity)

Well, I guess I ought to get back to my packing or I'll never get done. I think I'm going pack-crazy! J.A.M.
