AIRPLANE FUND
The airplane fund is making a slow but steady climb towards the goal. We have a long ways to got, but then it will be several months before we can put it to use. Keep praying for this need. Our return to Colombia is set for the 21st of September and it will take a while to get our things in order once we arrive there. So we have confidence that the Lord (and His people) will provide, by the time we really need the plane.
200 M.P.H
June is the busiest month for a missionary home on furlough. Four years ago I wrote an article entitled "200 m.p.h." That gave my impression of June. The only difference, after four long years, it that we have two kids now and a lot less room in our 15 year old Falcon than we had in the van. Let me give you a birds-eye view of the life of a missionary on furlough.
We started with Jeanie at a woman's retreat at Butler Springs Christian Service camp. I flew her down and then returned to Rittman. When it was over I drove (with the kids) to Washington Court House to meet her. She got a ride up to there with some of the ladies. We then drove down to Porter, Kentucky for Sunday. Then it was back to Rittman and packing for a two week road trip. The next Sunday we were at Palmyra church. Monday we drove to Washington Court House where we taught V.B.S. In the mornings we were at New Holland for their V.B.S. Two in one week really kept us hopping.
That weekend we headed for Winchester, Ohio to speak at the Bethlehem Church of Christ. We headed back to Rittman after the evening service; arriving at 2 a.m. Four hours later we were up again getting ready for a new week of V.B.S. at the Indian Run Christian Church. That was some week too! I had to take two tests, one an advanced amateur radio license test; the other instrument rating for my pilot's license. Tuesday night I spoke at the historical Knupp Church in Rittman and Jeanie headed for the Sherman Church near Akron. The weekend was soon there and I participated in a youth happening in Elkhorn Valley Christian Camp.
The next week we were in Rittman for V.B.S. Jeanie helped teach a class and I was the mission speaker. This week gave us a much needed rest and a chance to catch up on some of our office work. (If your correspondence was late, this is why). I also helped my Dad build a garage. I took advantage of the time to do evangelistic calling here in Rittman. Sunday found us at Orrville.
Monday called for me to travel alone (to give Jeanie and the kids a much needed rest) to Binghamton, New York to finish out the month. On returning there is the N.A.C.C. to attend in Cincinnati. Things have been so busy. So busy in fact that we are looking forward to our return to Colombia to rest from our travels. It have been a great month. We enjoy it, but two kids, a small car, and the wee hours of the morning tend to tire one out.
