THE TEST OF TIME

Have you ever wanted something very much? Yet, after a while, when you didn't receive it, that cherished goal faded and was thought of not more. The test of time is perhaps one of most critical views of checking perseverance.
In the question period of our presentation, people often ask, "How long have you been interested in going to Colombia?" It always amazes people when I answer, "Five years now." After a brief visit to Colombia in 1968, I was faced with a decision that would change all of my cherished goals. I realized that God had called all people to carry His Good News to the lost world. I wrote to the forestry school that had accepted me and told them that I wouldn't be reporting for the Fall semester. I had finally surrendered my life for the service of the King.
Once this decision had been made, I was anxious to head south: I wanted to return immediately to Colombia. Wise Christian adults convinced me of the need of more education and the maturity gained with four years of college. Those four years are behind me now. I have been thankful for them. For me they have been the crucial test of time. D.R.M.

WHY?

After announcing my definite plans to go into mission work, this year I have answered that question again and again. People ask, "Why do you want to go to the mission field?"
A life as the son of a minister does much to help bring one close to God. The desire to spread the Good News is something which one grows up with each day of his life. These things are true for me, but more than this I read God's word where He tells us to go and spread the Gospel to others. His command has struck home with me and I desire to answer to the call.
All through my life I have known missionaries as they visited in my home and the church. Their challenge of millions without Christ has touched my heart. Life would have little meaning for me without Christ, so I desire that all should come to know Him as Savior for He is the meaning of all life.
In the past few years my association with those concerned for South America has turned my eyes in that direction. I see countries with millions in population, but no Restoration missionaries laboring there. My desire is to see many go to these field white unto harvest. Many are the petitions I have prayed for South America.
Just as Isaiah of old said, "Here I am. Send me!" I feel He has led me to respond in the same way. Praise God my prayer is being answered. P.A.B.

Please be aware of the fact that the recent 10% devaluation of the American dollar means that our support must be increased by 10% in order to have the same amount of funds on the field. Devaluation does not affect your paycheck as long as you remain in the States but it can be critical in a foreign country. Please help us meet this extra need.
